Le New Morning affichait complet ce jeudi 16 janvier 2026 pour accueillir The GETDOWN Specials, preuve s’il en fallait de l’attente autour de ce projet explosif. À 20h30 précises, les musiciens prennent place sous les applaudissements d’un public déjà conquis : Arnaud Dolmen à la batterie, Rolando Luna au piano à queue Yamaha et Laurent Coulondre à l’orgue. Le décor est planté.

Le concert s’ouvre avec “Amber’s Ballad”, suivi de “Andidan”, deux titres qui installent immédiatement une atmosphère profonde et élégante, où groove, finesse et complicité musicale se répondent avec évidence.

La soirée prend rapidement une autre dimension avec l’arrivée d’une véritable légende du jazz antillais, Mario Canonge, invité sur le titre “Merci Biguine”. Mario Canonge s’installe au piano à queue tandis que Rolando Luna passe au Fender Rhodes. S’ensuit un dialogue pianistique d’une intensité rare, mêlant virtuosité, énergie et respect mutuel, sous les ovations du public.

Le premier guest de la soirée, le saxophoniste Ferdi, fait ensuite son entrée sur “Endless Groove”. Son solo, précis et inspiré, capte immédiatement l’attention et électrise la salle. Tous les musiciens se retrouvent ensuite sur “Uno Mas”, donnant lieu à une superbe interaction entre Ferdi et Rolando Luna au Fender Rhodes, dans un jeu de questions-réponses intense et jubilatoire.

Rolando Luna livre alors un solo de piano chargé d’émotions, avant qu’Arnaud Dolmen ne mette tout le monde d’accord avec un solo de batterie très organique, puissant et profondément musical, salué par une standing ovation.

La scène accueille ensuite le deuxième guest, le trompettiste Ludovic Louis, sur “Uno Mas”. Un échange spectaculaire s’installe entre la trompette et la batterie, avant que Ludovic Louis ne prenne le rôle de véritable maître de cérémonie. Il entraîne le public à chanter le nom du groupe — “The Getdown !” — présente les musiciens un à un et enchaîne les solos de trompette pour le plus grand plaisir de la salle.

Chacun aura son moment de grâce : Mario Canonge avec un solo de piano habité, Laurent Coulondre à l’orgue, et même une incursion salsa irrésistible menée par Rolando Luna au piano à queue. L’ambiance est à son comble, le public danse, applaudit, vibre.

Ce concert restera sans conteste comme un franc succès, tant musical qu’humain. Fort de cette soirée mémorable, The GETDOWN sera de retour au New Morning les lundi 15 et mardi 16 juin 2026, deux nouvelles dates déjà très attendues.

The New Morning was packed to capacity this Thursday, January 16, 2026, to welcome The GETDOWN Specials—clear proof of the high expectations surrounding this explosive project. At 8:30 PM sharp, the musicians took the stage to the applause of an already captivated audience: Arnaud Dolmen on drums, Rolando Luna on the Yamaha grand piano, and Laurent Coulondre on the organ. The stage was set.

The concert opened with "Amber’s Ballad," followed by "Andidan," two tracks that immediately established a deep and elegant atmosphere where groove, finesse, and musical chemistry flowed naturally.

The evening quickly reached a new level with the arrival of a true legend of Caribbean jazz, Mario Canonge, invited for the track "Merci Biguine." Mario Canonge took his place at the grand piano while Rolando Luna switched to the Fender Rhodes. What followed was a piano dialogue of rare intensity, blending virtuosity, energy, and mutual respect, all under the standing ovations of the crowd.

The evening's first guest, saxophonist Ferdi, then made his entrance on "Endless Groove." His precise and inspired solo immediately commanded attention and electrified the room. All the musicians then reunited for "Uno Mas," leading to a superb interaction between Ferdi and Rolando Luna on the Fender Rhodes—an intense and jubilant call-and-response.

Rolando Luna then delivered a deeply emotional piano solo, before Arnaud Dolmen took center stage with a very organic, powerful, and profoundly musical drum solo, earning him a standing ovation.

The stage then welcomed the second guest, trumpeter Ludovic Louis, on "Uno Mas." A spectacular exchange unfolded between the trumpet and the drums, before Ludovic Louis took on the role of a true master of ceremonies. He led the audience in chanting the band’s name—"The Getdown!"—introduced the musicians one by one, and delivered a series of trumpet solos to the delight of the crowd.

Each musician had their moment of grace: Mario Canonge with a soul-stirring piano solo, Laurent Coulondre on the organ, and even an irresistible salsa excursion led by Rolando Luna on the grand piano. The energy was at its peak; the audience was dancing, clapping, and vibrating in unison.

This concert will undoubtedly be remembered as a resounding success, both musically and humanly. Following this memorable evening, The GETDOWN will return to the New Morning on Monday, June 15, and Tuesday, June 16, 2026—two new dates that are already highly anticipated.
